Bank of America, home of the Carolina Panthers, will host its first-ever high school game in August.
The National Football League club announced Thursday its inaugural Keep Pounding High School Classic, a season-opening regional matchup between North Carolina and South Carolina powers Northwestern (Rock Hill, South Carolina) and Providence Day School (Charlotte, North Carolina). The game will be played Saturday, August 19 at 7 P.M.

“Supporting youth and high school football is a pillar of the Carolina Panthers community endeavors,” said Riley Fields, director of community relations for the Carolina Panthers. “High school football plays an important role in our communities across the Carolinas, and we’re thrilled to elevate our support by bringing the first-ever high school football game to Bank of America Stadium with a powerhouse matchup between the Northwestern Trojans and Providence Day Chargers.”
Both schools finished last season in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Northwestern finished No. 151 with a 13-2 mark. The Trojans lost in South Carolina’s 4A championship game to South Florence.

Providence Day finished No. 252 in the HSFA 300 after winning its second straight North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association AAA state title. The Chargers, who were 12-1 last season, will be led by quarterback Jadyn Davis, North Carolina’s 2022 Mr. Football.

Davis is considered the state’s No. 1 college football prospect. He currently has 32 scholarship offers, according to 247Sports.
On Monday, the Panthers will hold a news conference to celebrate the game. At the event, new Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich will be joined by Northwestern head coach Page Wofford and Providence Day head coach Chad Grier.
