For the first time since we released our first in-season poll over the Labor Day holiday weekend, there’s been significant upheaval in the High School Football America National Top 25.
And, if you’re looking for a reason why our algorithm was put to the test this week, you don’t have to look any further than the state of Ohio where a handful of really good teams are taking turns beating each other. St. Xavier‘s take-down of former #9 La Salle is the biggest reason for last week’s Top 25 being tossed around like a salad.

The Bombers, who own two overtime losses to Colerain and Elder, break into the Top 25 at #24 this week — up 26 spots from last week’s #50. La Salle drops ten spots to #19.
In all, there are now four Ohio teams in the national rankings, matching Texas and California with the most teams in the Top 25.
St. Edward‘s Saturday win former #18 Mainland (Florida), moves the Eagles from #17 to #12. Colerain, whose only loss was by three points to La Salle, pops from #24 to #18.

In addition to La Salle, #6 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) suffered its first defeat of the season, which came on the heels of a come-from-behind win the win against Hallandale (Florida) two weeks ago. The Raiders barely hang-in the Top 25 as they tumble to #25.
So with two Top 10 teams losing, we see plenty of movement there, starting with St. John Bosco (California) moving from #5 to #4. This Friday, the Braves will square-off with #11 Mater Dei (California) in a Trinity League showdown for bragging rights — this week — in SoCal.
St. John Bosco’s move up pushed DeMatha (Maryland) down to #5, while Euless Trinity (Texas), Colquitt County (Georgia) and Katy (Texas) slide-up a notch to #6, #7 and #9 respectively this week.
IMG Academy‘s (Florida) Ascenders continue to ascend with a four place jump from #12 to #8. American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) had a five spot jump from #21 to #16.
Male (Kentucky), one its bye week, also climbed five positions to #15 this week.
Aside from St. X, the only other new team to enter the poll is Gilman (Maryland) at #20. The Greyhounds only loss this year was by one point to #12 St. Edward.
Monday we’ll release our The Other 25 (teams #26 through #50), which also has plenty of movement.
