Irvington surprised previously undefeated Northern Highlands 19-14 at SHI Stadium at Rutgers to capture the New Jersey North Group 4 regional championship.

Irvington senior quarterback Saquan Gordon hooked up with senior receiver Trenton Jones on a 61-yard touchdown pass for the only score of the second half with 2:00 left in the fourth quarter to clinch the championship. The Blue Knights entered the game ranked No. 22 in the High School Football America New Jersey Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football. Northern Highlands began No. 11 in the state.

The South/Central Group 4 title also featured two teams in our statewide rankings. No. 12 Millville beat No. 16 Winslow Township 45-35.

Senior running back LeQuint Allen had a huge game with 245 yards on 40 carries. The Syracuse-recruit also caught four balls for 73 yards.
