Mater Dei sent a message to the rest of high school football Friday night that the national championship is there’s the lose. The Monarchs, No. 1 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, blasted No. 2 St. John Bosco 59-14 at Santa Ana Stadium. It’s the most points scored by one team and the largest margin over victory in the rivalry that dates back to 1966.

Not only does the win give MD at least a piece of the Trinity League title, it gives the Monarchs the inside track to their fifth HSFA national championship since 2017. The Monarchs also own a 31-15 win over No. 3 Bishop Gorman of Nevada.

This one was never in-doubt with Mater Dei scoring on all six of its first half possessions.

Dash Beierly finished 294 yards with four touchdown passes, plus he rushed for a 45-yard touchdown.

Now, the big question is will their be a Part II?

In the last two seasons, these two heavyweight titans played twice each year with the loser of the regular season game, winning in the playoff matchup.
