Lowndes, ranked No. 25 in the latest High School Football America 100 national rankings, got out to a 35-7 lead against Miami’s Northwestern High and never looked back in a 48-21 victory Friday night in South Georgia. The Vikings (5-0) run defense was outstanding, limiting the Bulls (3-2), ranked No. 12 in our national rankings, to minus-12 yards rush, plus the Vikes added four sacks.
On offense, sophomore quarterback Jacurri Brown ran for 174 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns. Brown was also 4-of-7 through the air for 42 yards with one TD.
The win sets-up next week’s annual showdown between Lowndes and Valdosta, ranked No. 50 in the latest HSFA 100. Both teams will enter the contest undefeated.
