13 state championships in 14 years. That’s how many titles Bishop Gorman (12-0) has won after Tuesday night’s 56-11 win over Liberty in the Nevada Class 5A Division I state title game at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Liberty took an early 3-0 lead after a Gorman turnover on its first series, but after that, the Gaels offense rolled, scoring the next 27 points of the game.
The victory keeps Gorman in position for its second High School Football America national championship. The Gaels, who won the 2016 national crown, are currently No. 3 in the latest High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Liberty, which entered the game No. 161 in the HSFA 300, finishes with a 10-3 mark. The Patriots were beaten by Gorman twice and lost their season opener to No. 1 St. John Bosco (California).
