The national championship chase is looking a lot different after No. 6 St. John Bosco completely dominated No. 1 Mater Dei 28-0 Friday night before a sellout crowd of 6,000-plus in Bellflower, California.

After a scoreless first quarter, Bosco found the end zone twice in the second quarter to take a 14-0 halftime lead. UCLA-recruit Cameron Jones scored both touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air from senior QB Caleb Sanchez.

The final nail in the coffin came in the third quarter on a flea-flicker.

Mater Dei fans can take some solace in the fact that their team will probably get another shot at the Braves in the postseason. And, history isn’t on the side of Bosco.

Four times since 2016, the Monarchs and Braves have met twice in the same season. Each time, the winner of the regular season game has lost in their playoff matchup.
