While there are no records on the youngest high school football coach ever in America, Brady Mutton comes close. Mutton, who is Pen Argyl High School’s new head football coach, is just 23 years old.
Mutton, who is a Pen Argyl alum who graduated in 2014, played on the Green Knights’ 2013 and 2014 District XI Class 2A championship teams. He takes-over for former Pen Argyl principal John Smith, who led the program to a 7-13 record over the last two seasons.
In addition to being a fine football player, Mutton was also an outstanding wrestler, finishing as a Pennsylvania state runner-up at heavyweight during his senior season.
For the last two seasons, Mutton served as an assistant coach at Pocono Mountain East.
