Sayreville War Memorial High School has chosen a former player to lead the New Jersey program out of the hazing scandal that rocked the program and community in October 2014.
Chris Beagan, who has been the head coach at Monroe High School since 2008, was hired Tuesday night. Beagan began is coaching career in the 90’s under George Najjar, who was let go last month in wake of the scandal.
The former Sayreville football captain, who graduated in 1990, told MyCentralJersey.com — “I believe it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, which is the reason I considered it. When the job opened up, it was a dream job and that’s why I’m back here. It drew me back.”
