With No. 2 Buford (Georgia) and No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Maryland) losing last weekend, the latest High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, has whole new look.

Aside from reigning HSFA national champ Mater Dei (California) remaining at No. 1, there’s a complete shuffle from No. 2 through No. 12. And, only five teams in the Top 100 held their previous rankings.

The road to a national championship still runs through Santa Ana, California where top-ranked Mater Dei is within two wins of winning its fourth national title in six years. This week, the Monarchs will clash with new No. 3 St. John Bosco for the California Interscholastic Federation’s Southern Section Division 1 title at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Back on October 7, MD beat the Braves 17-7. This will be fifth time in the last decade that these two programs have met twice in a season.

In three of those years, the team that won the regular season game then lost the playoff matchup. In 2017, Mater Dei won Parts I and II. In 2013, Bosco won both games.

Miami Central (Florida) is now knocking-on the No. 1 door. The Rockets have moved-up from No. 4 to No. 2 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

MC has several ranked opponents in front of them. This week in the 2M state quarterfinals, the Rockets play No. 273 Norland, a team they beat 53-7 on October 13. If the Rockets advance to the state finals, they could meet either No. 9 American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) or No. 15 Cardinal Gibbons. CG has won two straight Florida high school football state titles.

Central isn’t the only Florida team with a shot at a national title. Three-time defending state champ St. Thomas Aquinas is currently sitting at No. 4. Chaminade-Madonna, winners of four state titles in five years, is ranked No. 5.

Where did Buford and St. Frances end-up after their first losses of the year?

SFA drops five spots to No. 8. Buford falls 26 spots to No. 28 this week.

Below is the new Top 300.
