After playing nationally-ranked Corona Centennial and De La Salle on back-to-back weekend’s, Orange Lutheran rebounded Friday night with a solid 29-14 win over Vista Murrieta, ranked #6 in the latest High School Football America/SoCal Top 25. OLu entered #15.

After falling behind 6-0, the Lancers’ powerful ground game kicked into high gear with senior quarterback LJ Northington at the helm. OLu gained 384 yards on the ground with Northington and Dominik Austin both topping the century mark — Austin 128 yards rushing, Northington 102 yards. Northington, who’s given his verbal commitment to Harvard, also passed for 118 yards. On the night, the OLu offense rung-up 502 yards in total offense.
The win improves OLu to 3-2 with a bye week this week, before opening Trinity League play against Mater Dei, ranked #13 in the latest High School Football America National Top 25. It will be the Lancers third game this season against a team in the national rankings.

Vista Murrieta is now 3-1. Up next for the Broncos is St. Augustine from San Diego.
