Sitting just outside of the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, No. 301 St. Charles Catholic proved on Friday it deserves to be one of the best 300 in the nation. SCC won their second straight state championship by beating No. 274 Dunham 32-28 in the Louisiana Prep Classic’s Select Division III state championship at Caesars Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints.
The key play in the game was when the Comets tried an onside kick after cutting the Dunham lead to 28-25 with 10:36 to play in the game. After a success recovery, SCC put together a 10-play, 45-yard drive that end with Ayden Authement scoring on a a two-yard run with 5:39 to play.
