St. John Bosco head coach Jason Negro isn’t afraid to play the best America has to offer. The Braves’ 2022 high school football schedule proves that.
On Monday, the Bellflower, California school, which won our national championship in 2019, announced a 10-game regular season that is loaded with top teams from Texas, Hawaii and Oregon to go along with its usual Trinity League gauntlet. In all, Bosco will play four teams that finished 2021 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

The Southern California-power, which finished No. 8 in the nation last year, will open the season on August 26 in Texas against five-time Texas state champ Allen. The Eagles won three straight High School Football America national titles between 2012 and 2014. All of those titles came with current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray running the show for the Eagles.
It will be the second year in a row that a Trinity League-power will play in Texas. Last year, Mater Dei started its run to our national championship with a 45-3 blow-out of Duncanville, which finished runner-up in the state’s largest classification.
The Braves return to California next week to play a road game at Bishop Amat. The Lancers are coming-off an 8-4 year, which landed them in our Top 300.
Bosco then will play a three-game stretch against teams that played for state titles last season.
First, the Braves will take a trip north to Oregon to face defending 6A champ Central Catholic. The game against the six-time Oregon state champs at Autzen Stadium, home of the University of Oregon Ducks.
Bosco’s first home game will be on September 17 when it faces Hawaii Open Division champ Kahuku. The game is part of the Trinity League vs. The USA Showcase.
The following week, Modesto Central Catholic comes to town. The Raiders finished runner-up in Division 2-AA in 2021.
The Braves then open Trinity League play against the only two teams to beat them last year.
Up first will be a road game against Servite (September 30), which finished No. 6 in the nation last season. The following week (October 7), the Braves will be in Santa Ana to face defending national champ Mater Dei.
The Braves will close-out with three straight home games against JSerra (October 14), Orange Lutheran (October 21) and Santa Margarita (October 28). OLu finished No. 91 in the nation last year, while Santa Margarita checked-in at No. 144.
