Two of the best tight ends in the game will take the field Sunday in Super Bowl 58 when the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas. The Chiefs’ Travis Kelce is definitely a first-ballot Hall of Famer. The Niners George Kittle appears to be headed in that same direction.
It may surprise many that Kelce’s high school career had him throwing the ball, instead of catching it. Kelce was a three-year letter-winner at quarterback at Cleveland Heights High School in Ohio. As a dual-threat QB, during his senior season, he completed 103-of-198 passes for 1,523 yards with 21 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,016 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Kittle began his scholastic career at Iowa City West High School in Iowa and then moved on to Cedar Falls High. His family eventually moved to Oklahoma for the end of his high school career. He played wide receiver and safety at Norman High School in Oklahoma. He definitely didn’t have tight end size at Norman, graduating at 6-2, 190-pounds.
He finished his career at Norman with 11 touchdown catches. On defensive, he recorded five interceptions.
