Defending national champ St. John Bosco (California) jumps to No. 1 in the latest High School Football Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, after an impressive nationally-televised win over four-time reigning Florida state champ St. Thomas Aquinas. The win improves the Braves’ win streak against out-of-state opponents to 16 straight victories since 2017.

Preseason No. 1 Mater Dei (California) drops to No. 2 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

“I know fans will be questioning why Bosco moves to No. 1 this week,” said HSFA co-founder Jeff Fisher. “But, like I’ve been saying for the last decade, the algorithm is designed to analyze on-field results…we do a preseason ranking for the fans. The STA win gives the Braves a razor-thin lead over their arch-rivals. The great thing is that the Mater Dei/Bosco argument will be determined on the field when these two titans meet on October 13.”

The loss drops St. Thomas Aquinas from No. 6 to No. 7 this week.

Nevada’s Bishop Gorman continues to be a strong No. 3 after whipping former No. 74 Long Beach Poly (California) 60-15 in the Nike Football Classic. This week, the Gaels will be tested by No. 9 Miami Central in Las Vegas.

IMG Academy (Florida) is up a notch to No. 4 this week after edging former No. 10 St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania). The Ascenders, who now own wins over two reigning state champs — Lipscomb Academy (Tennessee) and St. Joe’s — travel to Alabama this week to play four-time reigning 7A champ Thompson, ranked No. 16 in the latest national rankings.

St. Joe’s falls from No. 10 to No. 11 this week.

Buford (Georgia) drops a spot to No. 5 after a hard-fought 10-7 win over No. 118 Mallard Creek (North Carolina).

There’s a lot of movement throughout the Top 300 after 57 of the 136 games played this past weekend featured head-to-head matchups inside the HSFA 300.
