Aledo, ranked No. 79 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, will be looking for its 13th overall Texas high school football championship in 2024. The Bearcats are the reigning Class 5A Division I state champs. They open defense of their title against Saginaw Chisholm Trail.
5A Division II reigning champ Port Neches-Groves is back to defend its title. The Indians open against Hallsville.
Division II also includes 2023 4A Division I champ Anna, which was moved up during the bi-annual realignment in February.
