Sully Buttes wins first South Dakota state championship in 35 years

Sully Buttes is a South Dakota high school football champ for the first time since 1989. On Thursday, the Chargers beat Faulkton Area 34-14 for the 9B state championship at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.

Junior quarterback Wesley Wittler won the Joe Robbie Most Valuable Player award with 194 yards passing with three touchdowns.

The win avenged  Faulkton Area’s 28-8 win over Sully Buttes on September 27.
