Trinity League play opens tonight with all six teams ranked thirteenth or higher in the latest High School Football America Southern California Top 25. In addition, Mater Dei and St. John Bosco are ranked nationally at #3 and #6 respectively in our Top 25.

St. John Bosco opens league play as the four-time defending champs with a record 21 straight league victories. The Braves, who began the season ranked #1 in the nation in our preseason poll, will square-off with Servite. Since losing to current #1 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) on September 9th, the Braves have averaged 55.5 points in two wins. If you take away the 35 points surrendered to Bishop Gorman, the Braves’ defense has only given-up 23 points this season. The offense is averaging over 450 yards per contest.
Servite is led by senior quarterback Tyler Lytle, who has given his verbal commitment to Colorado. Lytle has completed over 57-percent of his passes with five touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s averaging 230 yards passing per game.
Santa Margarita will try to do what no other opponent has been able to do this year to Mater Dei…stay in the game for more than a half. In its 5-0 start, Mater Dei is averaging 55.6 points per game, while only allowing 21 total points. Sophomore quarterback J.T. Daniels has been nearly perfect, completing 112-of-140 passes for 1,925 yards with 28 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Six different Monarchs have caught touchdown passes from Daniels this season.
After dropping its season opener to Mission Viejo, Santa Margarita has ripped-off four straight victories under first year head coach Rich Fisher. The Eagles are averaging 39.8 points a game this season. Senior quarterback Richard Wagner is completing over 70-percent of his passes without throwing an interceptions. SM’s ground-game is balanced with senior William Green rushing for 381 yards and four touchdowns and junior Chad Magyar picking-up 364 yards on the ground and six TDs.
JSerra and Orange Lutheran both bring two-game winning streaks into there clash at Orange Coast College.
JSerra junior quarterback Matt Robinson has completed 60-percent of his passes for 718 yards and eight touchdowns with two interceptions. Robinson has also rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
OLu sophomore quarterback Ryan Hilinski, who transferred from JSerra, is coming-off one of his best games of the year against Mullen (Colorado) two weeks ago. Hilinski is has thrown eight touchdown passes. Dominik Austin is leading the Lancers on the ground with 494 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
