Preseason No. 1 Mater Dei (California) is back on top in the latest High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Monarchs move up from No. 2 after Kahuku (Hawaii) upset St. John Bosco (California) 30-23 Saturday night in Hawaii.

Kahuku, who moves to No. 5 in the latest rankings, beat Bosco one week after Mater Dei blasted the Red Raiders 55-8 in Southern California.

Next up for Mater Dei is a trip to Maryland next week where the Monarchs will play No. 43 St. Frances Academy. After an 0-4 start against one of the toughest schedules in the nation, the Panthers picked-up their first win of the season this weekend against West (Utah).

Bosco falls five spots in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. The Braves now go into their bye week. They will open Trinity League play in two weeks against No. 81 Santa Margarita (California).

Nevada’s Bishop Gorman moves from No. 3 to No. 2 this week. The Gaels are 5-0 with all wins coming against teams in the HSFA 300. After blasting No. 174 Liberty (Nevada) on Thursday, Gorman is expected to roll to its 13th state title in the last 14 years.

Chaminade-Madonna (Florida) jumps from No. 5 to No. 3 after knocking-off its fourth straight opponent that entered the game ranked in our Top 25. The Lions, who beat former No. 13 American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) 28-16 Friday, will play No. 11 Miami Central (Florida) this week.

C-M is one of six Florida teams in the Top 25. Overall, the Sunshine State leads the way with 47 teams in the HSFA 300. Georgia has 35 nationally-ranked teams, followed by Texas with 31 teams. California has 28 teams in the Top 300.
