St. Ignatius’ 27-0 upset of No. 2 Mount Carmel (Chicago) rocks the latest High School Football America Illinois Top 10 powered by NFL Play Football. The Wolfpack soar into the statewide rankings at No. 4 after the win. The Caravan drops to No. 5.
This is the first-time that St. Ignatius has appeared in our Illinois Top 10. The school didn’t have a football program from 1964 through 2005. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the win was the first by St. Ignatius over Mount Carmel since 1924.
Another rankings shaper was Neuqua Valley’s 20-17 double-overtime win over Naperville Central. NV enters the Top 10 at No. 7, while Naperville Central falls two spots to No. 8.
