The first in-season High School Football America Alabama Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, finds Central (Phenix City) at the top of the rankings. The Red Devils opened the season with a 37-21 win over Hewitt-Trussville, which drops to No. 3 to No. 5 in the latest rankings.
Central QB Jaylen Epps completed 17-for-28 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 102 yards on 10 carries.
On defense, Tomarrion Parker had a big game for the Red Devils with 3.5 sacks.
Preseason No. 1 Thompson lost in Georgia to three-time defending champ Buford 38-7 in the Freedom Bowl. The three-time 7A champs fall to No. 4 this week.

Auburn moves-up four spots to No. 2 after defeating preseason No. 4 Hoover 17-14.
New to the Top 10 is Fairhope at No. 10 after opening with a 34-28 win over Spanish Fort.
This week, Thompson will try to rebound when it hosts Lipscomb Academy from Tennessee. The Mustangs were ranked No. 29 in our Preseason 100.
