Trips to Hershey for Pennsylvania state football gold are becoming old hat for Archbishop Wood. The Vikings will be playing in their fifth state title game in seven years Friday night when they square-off with unbeaten Central Valley (15-0) in the AAA championship game.
The Vikings are looking for their second straight state crown and third in four years under head coach Steve Devlin, who has build Wood into a state power and this year rose as high as #16 in High School Football America’s Top 25 before losing its only game of the year to La Salle.
Central Valley is a brand new school, only five years old, playing in its first-ever state championship game. CV advanced to the championship game by beating Bishop McDevitt, the same school that Wood has beaten to win its last two titles.
