College football’s early signing period for high school football players is moving up by three weeks for the Class of 2025.
The Collegiate Commissioners Association, which oversees and administers the National Letter of Intent program, has announced its three-day early signing period will move from mid-December to the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, starting in 2024. The traditional signing period will remain on the first Wednesday of February and run through April 1. However, there could be a bigger change coming in June.
According to a CCA news release, the association, comprised of the commissioners of all 32 Division I conferences, is still considering a proposal to add a third signing period for college football in June 2025. A decision on that proposal could be made this June.
The CCA added the December early signing period for football in 2017. According to reports, about 80% of available scholarships are signed for during the December period.
