After twelve weeks without a change in the top four teams in the High School Football America Alabama Top 10, defending 6A state champ Oxford moves from No. 4 to No. 3 in the latest statewide rankings. This week in the Class 6A quarterfinals, the Yellow Jackets will face No. 9 Pinson Valley.
Oxford enters the game on an eleven-game win streak after losing its opener to defending 7A champ Thompson. If Oxford gets by the Pinson Valley, the Yellow Jackets will face the winner of the game between Mountain Brook and Clay-Chalkville, which re-enters the Top 10 at No. 10 this week.
In 7A, top-ranked Thompson’s drive for back-to-back state titles will come-down to this weekend’s clash with No. 2 Hoover. The Warriors beat Hoover 39-23 on October 23.
In the other 7A semifinal, No. 6 Auburn plays No. 7 Central (Phenix City). It will be a rematch between the two that occurred October 2, won by Auburn 29-28.
