Defending national champ Mater Dei ranked No. 1 in Preseason 100

Bruce Rollinson’s Mater Dei Monarchs are No. 1 in the High School Football America Preseason 100 thanks to lots of returning talent, some big time transfers and one of the toughest schedules in the nation. The HSFA 100 is based on our proprietary algorithm.

The Monarchs, who won our “mythical” national championship last season after capturing the team’s first-ever state title, will play four teams that are in our Preseason 100 — No. 4 St. John Bosco (California), No. 5 IMG Academy (Florida), No. 10 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) and No. 42 Orange Lutheran (California). Bosco and OLu are members of the always tough Trinity League, which Mater Dei has won two years running.

Mater Dei is one of ten teams from California in our preseason rankings. Texas leads the way with fourteen teams in the Preseason 100, followed by Florida with twelve. California is third behind the Lone Star and Sunshine states.
