Michael DeVito, who spent nine years in the National Football League with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, will be inducted into the Maine Sport Hall of Fame later this year.
DeVito was a star nose guard at the University of Maine where he was a team captain. Twice, he was named All-Atlantic 10, registering 112 tackles during his career with 16 sacks.
After not being drafted after his college career, DeVito signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets in 2007. He played with the Jets for six years before going to Kansas City for his final three years.
DeVito finished his NFL career with 250 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

Michael DeVito played 110 games at defensive end over nine seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets. He starred at the University of Maine where he was a captain, Defensive Player of the Year and was twice named All-Atlantic 10. Michael lived in the Bangor area for most of his NFL career and remains involved with football as a commentator, podcaster and clinician. He annually works with area youth, takes part in many charitable causes and works with defensive players during spring ball at Maine. Michael and his wife Jessie have three sons and live in Hampden. He is currently working on his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Birmingham in England.
