Franklin now owns a Texas high school football championship. Thursday night at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, the Lions beat Gunter 49-35 for the Texas 3A Division II state title, the first-ever for the school.
Offensive MVP Malcom Murphy had a huge game, rushing for 280 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions on defense.

It was the second straight year that Franklin played for a state title.
The Lions finish a perfect 16-0. Gunter suffers its first loss to finish 15-1 in 2021.
