The Lathrop Malemutes now own two Alaska high school football championships. Saturday, LHS beat Soldotna 21-18 for the school’s second straight Division II state championship.
Lathrop entered the game ranked No. 2 in the High School Football America Alaska Top 5. Soldotna was ranked No. 3.

According to the Alaska Sports Report, Lathrop used a strong ground game that amassed 311 yards in the title game. The Malemutes did it by using rotating quarterbacks on every-other-possession.
Lathrop has now beaten Soldotna two years running for the title. The 2021 win snapped Soldotna’s run of eight straight state championships.
Lathrop finishes a perfect 10-0. Soldotna closes-out 2022 with a 9-1 mark.
