Steve Fazzolari of General Douglas MacArthur High School in Levittown, NY has been named this week’s Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa. Coach Fazzolari will receive a $2,000 donation to benefit the school’s flag football program. Along with the monetary award, Coach Fazzolari will be invited to attend the New York Jets preseason game in August, where he will be honored on field at MetLife Stadium.
In its first year, the Jets Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.
The Generals – led by Fazzolari- dominated last week, posting 21-13 against Plainedge, 14-0 against Bellmore and 7-6 against Valley Stream to improve their overall record to 6-1. In addition to heading the Girls Flag program, Fazzolari has served as MacArthur’s boys tackle defensive coordinator for the last 18 years. He attended St. Francis Prep High School in Queens, NY and later went to St. John’s University, where he was an offensive and defensive lineman. The team will look to continue their six game winning streak in their next matchup against Bethpage.
Visa and the NFL have teamed up to help teach financial concepts with Financial Football, a fast-paced interactive game that engages students while teaching them money management skills.
