It’s the game every Nevada high school football team has been waiting for this year. This weekend top-ranked Bishop Gorman will square-off with No. 2 Liberty for the right to go to the Class 5A state championship next week at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The game will be a rematch of the 2019 southern championship game won by Liberty, which napped Gorman’s run of 10 straight Nevada state championships. Liberty is still the reigning champ in the state’s largest classification, since there wasn’t a state championship in 2020 due to COVID-19.
The Gorman/Liberty winner will face the northern champ. In that championship, No. 5 Bishop Manogue will face No. 6 McQueen. Back on September 10, McQueen beat the Miners 43-27.
