In a rematch of last year’s South Carolina AAAA high school football state championship South Florence avenged last year’s defeat, beating Westside 42-41 at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium at S.C. State. The defending champs came close to repeating, but the South Florence stopped a two-point conversion attempt to give the Bruins their second state title in three years.
Westside entered the game ranked No. 89 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
The loss snapped Westside’s 27-game win streak.
