South Pointe snapped a two-game losing streak against crosstown rival Northwestern 30-23. Northwestern entered the game as the reigning South Carolina 4A Division II state champs and ranked #19 in the High School Football America Preseason Top 25.

South Pointe, coming-off back-to-back 3A state titles, jumped-out to a 15-0 lead, but the Trojans battled back to take a 23-22 lead with three minutes to go in the game. However, the Stallions came right back to take the lead and the victory on a 5-run TD run by Geomni Mayfield with 2:47 to go in the game.
South Pointe junior QB Derion Kendrick rushed for 117 yards and 2 TDs, plus 12-of-22 passing for 133 yards.
