It took two years for Swampscott to defending its 2019 Massachusetts high school football championship, but Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, the Big Blue finally finished the task. One year after no playoffs due to the coronavirus pandemic, Swampscott beat top-seeded North Reading 14-7 for the Division 5 state championship.
The Big Blue defense was tough throughout, forcing three turnovers in the school’s fourth overall state championship.
