Rodney Webb is the new head football coach at Denton Guyer. Last season, Webb led Rockwall to a 12-3 record and a No. 36 ranking the High School Football America 100 national rankings. He takes-over the Wildcats, who finished runner-up in Texas’ Class 6A Division II with a No. 47 finish in our Top 100 in 2019.
“Coach Webb’s record of running an exemplary, student focused program makes him a great fit for our Wildcats,” said Joey Florence, Denton ISD Athletic Director in a news release. “He’s ready to step-in and continue the hardworking excellence we’ve come to expect from our programs at Guyer, both academically and athletically.”
In seven seasons at Rockwall, Webb amassed a record of 61-30. As a head coach, Coach Webb owns an overall record of 141-77, qualifying for the UIL playoffs for 16 straight years. He was twice named District Coach of the Year and awarded the Gridiron Club of Dallas’ Coach of the Year in 2019.
Webb takes-over for John Walsh, the program’s only head coach, who resigned earlier this month.
