While there’s plenty of pressure in Year 1 for any high school football coach, imagine going into the VERY first-ever year of a program while also dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. That’s what Brian Cope is doing at Lake Belton High School in Temple, Texas.
The Central Texas high school will be opening in the fall and Cope is uber-busy with doing everything from creating the high school football program from scratch to hiring every sports coach in the school, while also ordering equipment and uniforms for each program.
Despite all of that responsible, Coach Cope found time to join me today to talk about a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a Texas high school football program from the ground floor.
