Surprise losses shake-up the latest High School Football America Georgia Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Former No. 5 and defending 6A champ Langston Hughes dropped a 30-27 loss to unranked Douglas County. The Panthers, who have now lost two of their last three games, drop to No. 9 this week. Both losses were by the 30-27 margin.
Reigning 5A champ Ware County drops out of the statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. Last week, the Gators lost their second straight, a 35-21 decision to unranked Bainbridge.
Valdosta dropped nine spots to No. 22 with a 28-7 loss to unranked McEachern.
Who’s moving up? North Cobb is up five spots to No. 17 after coming from behind to beat Milton. The Eagles fall from No. 15 to No. 18.
There are two big Top 25 head-to-head matchups this week. In 7A Region 4, No. 10 Grayson plays No. 15 Newton. In 6A Region 1, No. 13 Lee County battles No. 19 Houston County for first place.
No. 2 Colquitt County has an interstate game against nationally-ranked Lincoln (Tallahassee, Florida). CC enters the game ranked No. 13 in the HSFA 300. Lincoln is No. 253.
