When it comes to Utah high school football, the biggest question heading into the 2021 season is who’s the next Corner Canyon quarterback that will light-up Friday nights?
The Chargers will enter the fall as the three-time defending state champs on a 40-game win streak. And, while there is plenty of Division I talent in the stable, CC must replace QB Jaxson Dart, the 2020-21 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year, who led the program to a No. 16 ranking in the High School Football America 100 powered by NFL Play Football, the NFL’s initiative to provide fun and engaging experience for players of all ages and skill levels.

Enter Devin Brown, who like Dart, is transferring to Corner Canyon for his senior season.
Brown, who has given his verbal commitment to USC, played at Queen Creek High School in Arizona prior to his transfer. Last year, according to his stats on MaxPreps, in nine games Brown completed 151-of-232 passes (65.1%) for 1761 yards with 18 touchdowns against six interceptions.
Queen Creek finished No. 10 in the High School Football America Arizona Top 10 in 2020.
Brown, who played under former NFL quarterback Joe Germaine at Queen Creek, became a starter midway through his sophomore year.
Look for Cody Hagen to become Brown’s main target. The senior-to-be wide receiver is coming-off a junior year with 55 catches. He averaged 21.5 yards per catch and scored 18 touchdowns. Hagen is the No. 7 college football prospect in the Class of 2022 in Utah, according to the 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.
Hagen and Brown are two of four Chargers saluted in the Class of ’22. Linebackers Harrison Taggert and Micah Wilson are back after being the top two tacklers in 2020.
Taggert (No. 6) led the team with 140 tackles, 80 of which were solo. He had 10 tackles for loss and five sacks. Wilson (No. 18) recorded 133 tackles.
The state’s No. 1 prospect, Lander Barton of Brighton is still undecided on his college choice. Right now, Barton, whose two brothers are in the NFL, has 15 college scholarship offers. Last year, Barton led Brighton with 123 tackles, 12.5 for loss with 4.5 sacks.
Barton’s borther Cody is currently playing linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks and Jackson is an offensive lineman for the New York Giants.
