Yerington is building a Nevada high school football championship program that is known to be in the hunt every season.
After the 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19, the Lions have now gone back-to-back in Class 2A. Thursday, at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, Yerington beat The Meadows 35-26 for the school’s fifth state title in the last eight years. The championship is the twelfth overall for the school in football.
After the win, quarterback Tucker Rowe, who scored three touchdowns in the first half told the Reno Gazette Journal,”Oh man, I’m ecstatic,” Rowe said. “Finally winning one on my own, leading the team through it. It’s a surreal feeling, especially to be at Allegiant Stadium.”
