Corona Centennial head coach Matt Logan isn’t afraid of challenging his players with a tough non-league schedule.
Once again in 2016, Logan and his Huskies will play five top-notch non-league games with three of them coming against out-of-state opponents. Corona Centennial has rounded-out next year’s slate with the scheduling of Arizona-power Chandler, which won the 2014 Division I title and returns plenty of talent from last year’s squad that finished 11-2, advancing to the state semifinals.
Chandler is expected to once again challenge for a state title with the return of four of five offensive linemen, it’s top receiver Kolby Taylor and leading running back T.J. Green.
Last season Chandler climbed as high as #19 in High School Football America’s National Top 25. Logan’s troops finished #5 in the nation after losing to De La Salle in the CIF Open Division championship game. The Huskies entered that game ranked #1 in America.
Corona Centennial’s other two out-of-state opponents will be IMG Academy from Florida in The Honor Bowl and Liberty from Nevada. Corona Centennial will also face-off with Orange Lutheran and Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks from from the CIF-Southern Section.
The Huskies will round-out the 2016 with its usual slate of games against teams in the Big VIII.
