The High School Football America Virginia Top 10 went a perfect 10-for-10 in the state quarterfinals, which sets up four Top 10 head-to-head matchups in this weekend’s state semifinals.
Top-ranked Oscar Smith will host No. 9 Massaponax in one Class 6 state semi with the winner getting the winner of the South County/Madison matchup. No. 3 South County is the defending 2019 Class 6 champ.
In Class 5, No. 2 Highland Springs is looking to return to its state championship form. The Springs will play defending 2019 Class 5 champ Maury, which is currently ranked No. 6 in the latest statewide rankings. The Highland Springs/Maury winner gets the winner of No. 5 Stone Bridge and William Fleming.
Maury’s only loss during the spring season was to defending Class 4 champ Lake Taylor, which puts its No. 4 ranking on-the-line against undefeated King George on Saturday. The winner of that one faces the winner of the game between No. 7 Tuscarora and No. 8 Salem (Salem).
