The Chicago Bears proudly announce Adilene Diaz, a senior student-athlete from Instituto Health Science Career Academy High School in Chicago, Ill., as the fourth recipient of the 2024 Community High School All-Star award. This award, brought to you by Athletico Physical Therapy, recognizes nine high school football players from March through May who make a positive impact in their communities and schools.
Throughout her four years of high school, Adilene has consistently demonstrated active participation in both her school and community service initiatives. She has been a dedicated member of the school’s Association of Latin American Students, contributing significantly to its objectives of promoting cultural awareness and fostering community engagement. Adilene’s commitment to the association’s mission has been evident through her involvement in various initiatives, including events, projects and activities aimed at celebrating and highlighting Latin American culture within the school and broader community.
Adilene contributed to two civic service learning projects at her school, playing an important role in creating murals that honored important historical movements for equality. For Black History Month, she helped design a mural representing different eras in Black history, featuring influential figures and cultural symbols. She also crafted a mural symbolizing the journey of migrants seeking a better life in the United States, reflecting her advocacy for social justice and inclusivity.
Beyond her artistic contributions, Adilene has passionately advocated for her charter school, representing Instituto Health Science Career Academy High School in Washington, D.C., to support charter schools across the nation. She has also demonstrated a commitment to global service, participating in a mission trip to Mexico where she taught English to elementary school students, ranging from 4th to 6th graders.
Beyond her great effort and involvement in making significant changes in her community, Adilene remains diligent in balancing her academic and athletic responsibilities. Despite English being her second language, she maintains an impressive academic record, demonstrating her perseverance and dedication. This year, Adilene also played a key role in launching her school’s first girls’ flag football team, demonstrating her dedication to expanding athletic opportunities for female students. Her willingness to step outside her comfort zone inspires her peers and creates a foundation for future generations of female athletes.
Each Community High School All-Star award recipient will receive a custom hand-painted football, gift bag and an invitation to a future Chicago Bears event. Additionally, the Chicago Bears will make a $500 donation to the charitable organization of the player’s choosing.
