After our annual two-week break, we’re back!
First, I want to thank each and every person who took the time to visit High School Football America in 2023. For the 19th straight year, we had a significant increase in unique visitors and page views.
Once again, the High School Football America 300 national rankings was the most visited topic. We’ve seen tremendous growth in this area since teaming-up with NFL Play Football in 2021.
Congratulations to the Mater Dei Monarchs in Santa Ana, California on winning their fourth HSFA national championship since 2017. The Monarchs began the season ranked No. 1 in our preseason rankings, but they dropped out of the top spot twice during the regular season.

Over the next two weeks, HSFA will be releasing its final statewide and regional rankings, along with our Medium and Small School Rankings. We’ll also put out our final Public and Private rankings.
It’s hard to write about everything that happened last year, but I’d like to highlight a few.
Kudos to Muskegon (Michigan) on winning the school’s 900th game. The Big Reds became the sixth program in America to reach the exclusive 900 Win Club when they won the Michigan Division 2 championship in November. The state title helped land Muskegon at No. 271 in our final national rankings.
Florida’s St. Thomas Aquinas made history when it became the first school in the Sunshine State to ever win five straight state titles. The Raiders finished No. 6 in the nation with the only loss coming in the team’s season opener against No. 3 St. John Bosco (California).
In Tennessee, Alcoa rolled to a ninth straight state championship. Overall, the Tornadoes now own 22 state championships, the most in the Volunteer State.
The all-time record for consecutive high school football state championships is 14. Hawaii’s won fourteen straight, on the field, between 1986 and 1999. South Dakota’s Washington High won 14 straight “mythical” state titles between 1951 and 1964 when the state didn’t play state championship games.
Nevada’s Bishop Gorman continues to dominate in the state’s largest classification. The Gaels, who finished No. 5 in our national rankings, won their 13th title in 14 years.
Southern Columbia continues to roll in Pennsylvania. The Tigers 2A title was the seventh straight for the school that has won three HSFA Small Schools national championships.
Bixby, No. 55 in the HSFA 300 national rankings, heads into ’24 with six straight state championships. This year’s 6A-I title is the Spartans ninth in ten years.
While Riverheads wasn’t able to extend its streak to eight straight Virginia titles, shout-out to Gladiators. Riverheads, which moved up to Class 2 this year, lost to Radford 39-21 in the championship game after seven straight Class 1 titles.
Now, it’s time for the BIG question — who’s ready for 2024?!
