The Road to the Dome gets very interesting as we reach the state quarterfinals, especially in 7A. Seven of the eight quarterfinalists are ranked in the latest High School Football America Georgia Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
No. 1 Mill Creek, the defending 7A champ, plays Camden County, the only unranked team. The winner gets the winner of the game between No. 4 Walton and No. 5 Carrollton.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Buford gets No. 11 Grayson. That winner gets of No. 3 Colquitt County and No. 14 Milton.
There are also three head-to-heads in 6A. No. 6 Gainesville faces Woodward Academy. The War Eagles enter the rankings this week at No. 23. The Gainesville/Woodward winner get the winner of No. 13 Lee County and unranked Douglas County.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 16 Roswell squares-off with No. 21 Marist. That winner gets the winner of No. 9 Rome and No. 12 Thomas County Central.
Rome advanced to the quarters by taking-down defending 6A champ Langston Hughes that falls from No. 9 to No. 15.
In 5A, No. 10 Creekside faces No. 24 Warner Robins, which is trying to make it to its seventh straight state championship game.
