It’s hard to argue with Gaige Garcia’s success on the gridiron and wrestling mat. The Michigan-bound Garcia led Southern Columbia to three straight Pennsylvania high school football championships and a No. 1 ranking in the High School Football America Small School Top 25. Then, last weekend, Garcia won Pennsylvania’s Class 2A 195-pound state wrestling championship, which was his second straight gold medal on the mat.
Garcia closed-out his football career with over 8,200 yards rushing. He scored 138 rushing touchdowns and 159 overall TD’s, both are state records. His state championship victory was his 98th straight win. His career mark in wrestling is 163-6.
Garcia’s wrestling bloodline is very strong. His father, Mike, won three straight Pennsylvania state titles in the 90’s at Mt. Carmel High School.
On today’s podcast, Garcia talks about being his outstanding career with the Tigers and his excitement about trying to participate in both sports at the University of Michigan.
