Ritchie County wins first-ever West Virginia high school football state championship

For the first-time in school history, Ritchie County can call itself a West Virginia high school football state champion. The Rebels beat Williamstown 42-21 at Wheeling Island Stadium for the state’s Class A state title.

Gus Morrison had an outstanding game with 178 yards rushing and four touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 44 yards and a TD.

Ritchie County finishes 13-1.
