Southern California high school football heavyweights Mater Dei and St. John Bosco will face a couple of the best teams from Hawaii in the 3rd annual Trinity League vs. The USA Showcase. This year’s event will be held September 16-17 at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California.

Defending High School Football America national champ Mater Dei will open the event (September 16) against Mililani, a 2021 Hawaii Open Division state semifinalist. Last year’s national title was the third in the last five years for the Monarchs. The other titles were in 2017 and 2018.

The Monarchs should be in the hunt for back-to-back titles with the return of junior-to-be quarterback Elijah Brown, who is currently considered the No. 35 overall recruit in the Class of 2024 in the 247sports composite rankings.

St. John Bosco will play on September 17 against defending Hawaii Open Division champ Kahuku.

Bosco is coming-off another outstanding finish in our national rankings. Last year, the Braves finished No. 8 in the Top 100, powered by NFL Play Football.

Since 2013, SJB is the top team in our national rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm. The Braves won our national title in 2019 and had runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2016.

Bosco’s top player is edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei, who is considered the No. 20 overall recruit in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports composite rankings. He’s the younger brother of Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who led the Braves to their 2019 national title.
