In a rematch of last year’s Ohio Division I state championship game, St. Ignatius, ranked No. 38 in the latest High School Football America Top 100, beat No. 5 St. Xavier 28-14 on Saturday. Last December, St. X (8-1) beat the Wildcats in double-overtime 27-20.
Not only was the victory a bit of redemption for St. Ignatius (8-1) from last year, it also put the Wildcats back in the win column after last weekend’s shocking loss to Archbishop Moeller, which dropped them from No. 9 in the national rankings to No. 38.
Next-up for St. Ignatius is arch-rival St. Edward, currently ranked No. 18 in our national Top 100. St. X plays St. Xavier from Louisville, Kentucky next weekend.
