Loyola Academy has one more hurdle to clear in its run for the No. 1 spot in the High School Football America Illinois Top 10 for the Spring 2021 high school football season. After rolling by Chicago Public League power Phillips Academy 30-0 last weekend, all that stands between the Ramblers and a perfect 6-0 season is this weekend’s matchup against No. 4 Marist.
One week after breaking into the Top 10, O’Fallon lost a heart-stopping 43-40 double overtime game against Edwardsville. Justin Johnson Jr. became Edwardsville’s all-time leading rusher in the game and also scored four touchdowns, including the game-winner.
Next up, Edwardsville will play East St. Louis next week for the Southwest Conference title. On April 2nd, ESL beat Edwardsville 53-21.
New to the Top 10 this week is Hinsdale Central at No. 8 after beating former No. 10 Glenbard West 28-7 in battle of unbeatens.
