Only two more weeks, before 12 teams head to AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, for the 2021 Texas high school football championships. This weekend’s quarterfinals are loaded with big head-to-head matchups in the High School Football America Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football.
Before we look ahead, let’s look back at last weekend’s regional semifinals.
The biggest surprise of the weekend causes the biggest shake-up in the latest rankings. Three-time defending state champ Aledo was surprised by South Oak Cliff 33-28. The loss drops the Bearcats from No. 8 to No. 16. South Oak Cliff makes its first-ever appearance in the HSFA Texas Top 25 at No. 14.
Vandegrift is the other newcomer to this week’s rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm. The Vipers, who will play No. 1 Westlake this weekend in the 6A-II quarters, at No. 23 this week.
